Very useful information! thanks.
Doing a research on this topic at the moment. very helpful video!
Fantastic lecture! Good content.
Invaluable lecture. It's so sad (and perhaps ironic) the research findings on SLA have such a hard time being accepted in institutions of learning.
I just watched this because I have contest tomorrow
This is nonsense. What you are presenting is Universal Grammar and you falsely claim that it describes what is in our head. Firstly, it is a theory of language and secondly there is a massive body of evidence that demonstrates that UG is just plain wrong. I’m rather shocked that an academic faculty member would present a theory as fact, instead of telling the students the truth.
Damn! The purpose of grammar is to describe what we speak and make sense of how we speak. It cannot be as a tool that helps you speak L2
Hi hope you're having a great day, I was wondering if you can give me some tips, I'm going to be Santa Claus for the first time and I'm going to read the night before Christmas to kids in a library, this is my first time doing this and I would like to do an awesome job, please advise. Thank you very
This guy looks so small to me, like 5' 2", but no way . . .
How about using some grammar rules to make the input more comprehensible? Like you show english learner that there's "ed" at the end of the sentence and it usually means that stuff happens in the past. So the student will start noticing those ed's more in his input and the acquisition will be faster?
Long story short: "just immerse bro" :D
God language professors are pretentious. I ain't have any time for this sh*t.
Hola matute

Thanks you for information tips story telling
I really like the way you share the keys to tell a good story. The frame of the methods is concrete and practical.
Je tange espagnol.
Karrie....you did an amazing job of presenting this. I was a second grade teacher for 30 years and now I am a children's author. I present events at school but due to the pandemic I have been doing most events online. I will hopefully be going back to schools soon...I miss the live interaction. I felt I have lost my"magic" a bit because it has been so long ..so this was such a great refresher for me ...do you have other videos that you do of your actual story presentations. You are very easy to follow and keep a person's interested . You have a calming way about you ...Thank you for the inspiration . Karen Morales
Answer about use of "ain't" (before listening to the answer) - "Ain't" stands for "am not", "aren't", "isn't", "haven't" or "hasn't". The second example sentence isn't natural because we don't say "I haven't have any".
Guess about rule for "re" (before listening to the answer) - We can ad "re-" to a verb that achieves a change of state
Wonderful tips! I am telling Irish folk stories on Halloween this will really help me to prepare, thank you🙏⚡️⚡️

Ah yes, very enlightening, yet the most pressing question remains unanswered. Who is the blonde girl in the first row?
lol
Flta is my dream!
Mine too. I am applying this year
I found the background music noise very distracting, annoying, and too loud. Otherwise great.
i volunteered for story telling and my first class is tmr, i'm terrified!! no clue why i even signed up being such an introvert
haha how did it go ? I totally can relate :)
@@rowepowe went way better than i thought it would!! A few kids are kinda noisy and loud but that's to be expected
I would say that someone that picks up skills quicker does demonstrate aptitude. People are known to make the most language progression in the first five years of acquisition. Therefore, speed of learning is a factor. If you practice something but it takes you 3 years longer than others, it wasn't something that came naturally to you.
you completely missed his point
For secondary school language learning, I disagree that repetition does not work. I have started to have good results with students at secondary level through repetition after a clear understanding of what they were expressing was given and checked. As a language learner myself in Spanish and Portuguese, I have gained from meaningful repetition and practice.
You are making an assumption. Is repetition ALL you do? Because how do you know it isn't something else? Krashen states that grammar only works as a language learning tool when it is delivered in the target language and thus student learn from the delivery of the subject, not the subject (in this case grammar) itself.
I like it 😊😊😊😁😁😁
I'm only here because of a scout merit badge but how the hell do you become a pro story reader.
I believe language learning has to be strictly conversational audio based with practical conversations.
fuck off
